Since mid-2025, actions taken by the Trump administration and Congress have led to changes that are expected to reduce access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) for many Floridians. No one—especially children, people with disabilities, veterans, and older adults—should have to wonder where their next meal will come from.

SNAP is a vital program that helps 3 million Floridians afford groceries and put food on the table. For many families, it serves as a critical safety net during difficult times. It is unacceptable that people can work full-time and still struggle to afford basic necessities, including food.

Until wages and economic conditions allow families to consistently meet their basic needs, elected leaders should protect and strengthen SNAP rather than reduce access to it. Strong nutrition assistance programs help children thrive, support older adults and veterans, strengthen local economies, and ensure that families can put food on the table when they need help most.
